Des Moines Performing Arts, Iowa PBS, Ballet Des Moines and Varsity Cinema present this FREE screening of Ballerina Boys on Sunday, February 18 @ 6:30PM, followed by a panel conversation.
This film is a portrait of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (The Trocks), an all-male company that for 45 years has shared their signature style and message of equality, inclusion and social justice with audiences around the world. They share their passion for ballet classics mixed with exuberant comedy. With every step they poke fun at their strictly gendered art form.
Following the screening, please stay for a panel conversation with artists about how joy and expression can be a means of activism and how identities can be celebrated through performance. Curated in partnership with Ballet Des Moines and Des Moines Performing Arts.
