Join us for a pre-screening conversation with renowned opera scholar Roger Pines. Roger is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert in the field of opera, having served as Dramaturg at the Lyric Opera of Chicago for over 25 years. He has interviewed many of the world’s greatest opera stars and had the opportunity to meet Maria Callas after one of her final performances. This special event is presented by Des Moines Metro Opera and Des Moines Film.
Film Details:
1977: Maria Callas, once the world’s greatest opera diva, lives in seclusion in Paris with her staff and her two poodles. Her health is getting worse and worse. Then she receives a request to go on tour again. Will La Callas sing again? And if so, for whom?
